Olukun: Representations of 2 spirit identities in Orisa Deities

a loose and simple representation of Olukun a 2 spirit Yoruba deity. The Orisa of the bottom of the ocean & secrets . Patron saint to Middle Passage. I designed these garments with Nigerian & Black Southern Motifs in mind. The hat was constructed free form from raw straw and painted using acrylic materials. Raw cowrie shells sourced from Senegal and hand tied and applied.

The garment was designed, patterned, draped and stitched by me. Using 100% silk.

Corset patterned and constructed by me using metal boning and cotton fabric.
